Musically Gifted

Music teacher and pianist, Erin Nielsen, brings her program "Musically Gifted" to NHS again this year. This program, based on the "Kodaly" method of music education, teaches children note reading, choral songs and vocal techniques. This program is offered to students in Junior K through 5th grades as an optional school activity on Tuesday afternoons The September through May program includes 32 music classes, all materials, plus a winter and a spring evening recital and reception for parents to attend. The cost is $235.00 per 16 week term. Classes begin September 15. To enroll your child in this program, contact the school office, or you can reach Ms. Nielsen at emalonenielsen@comcast.net.

Keyboard Lessons

Lincoln D'Amario ("Mr. Linc") has been a private keyboard instructor at NHS since 1990. His 30 years of teaching music and positive nurturing style has made him very popular among parents and students. Students are giving 30 minutes of keyboard lessons per week, a piano lesson book, supplemental materials and songs. The fee is $70 per month. Students must have a keyboard or piano at home to practice. Contact Mr. Linc directly for information and registration at 510-386-7877.

Middle School Sports Club

Membership in the Sports Club is limited to Middle School boys and girls. This club enables students to learn the basics of a variety of sports, chosen by our physical education teacher. The club meets for practice sessions from 3:30 to 4:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays for boys and Tuesdays and Thursdays for girls.

Math Club

Students in the 3rd to 6th grades wanting help with math homework should join the Math Club simply by attending its meetings, which occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 4:30 pm and receive help from seventh and eighth grade students.

May: Math, Science, and Physics Day at Great America Park

April/May: Spring Choral Concert
