Welcome to our web site!
New Horizons School (NHS) is a private, non-religious, elementary school,
which I started in June 1988 with six students.
We now have over 200 junior kindergarten through eighth grade students
during the regular school year and a staff of 25.
NHS is the only school in the tri-city area of Fremont, Union City and Newark
that provides the combination of an excellent academic program,
extended daycare for working parents, and teaching of emotional balance.
We use a unique educational system called
Workshop Way®,
which recognizes learning differences among everyone
and uses multiple teaching styles in teaching children.
Reading and math lessons are individualized.
Phonics, critical thinking and emotional balance are incorporated into the curriculum.
We assisted in the writing of a book on the subject of emotional intelligence and balance, called
"Teaching Children to Love",
written and published by the
Institute of HeartMath®.
The book, featuring our students, has been on the national talk show circuit
and has attracted the attention of local and national media.
As part of a full range curriculum, our students are provided classes in
Spanish, French, physical education, music and computer use.
Classes are small and our degreed teachers are dedicated to our special teaching method.
Our students consistently score above grade level and national averages in the Stanford Achievement Test.
We cater to working parents.
We are open 12 hours per day (6:30 AM to 6:30 PM), five days a week, 12 months a year.
We offer a variety of classes, including dance, music, art, drama and fitness,
as well as supervised homework periods.
Our clients come from all ethnic backgrounds and mirror the diverse population of the tri-city area.
Many of our clients work in the electronics industry,
and most commute to and from "silicon valley" and are well-educated professionals
seeking a superior education for their children.
Although the majority of our clients live in the tri-city area,
many live in Danville, Pleasanton, San Jose, Milpitas and Hayward.
